Did not get approval to open college

Approval has been given to start a new subject.

Higher education: This district is constantly being neglected, did not get approval to open a college

Chhindwara. The government has given approval to establish government colleges in 11 districts of the state and to start new faculties at the undergraduate level in 5 government colleges already operating and to start new subjects at postgraduate level in one government college. Surprisingly, the name of Chhindwara is not included in this list. That is, once again Chhindwara has been neglected. Whereas about six months ago, the Higher Education Department had sought a demand from Lead College in Chhindwara district. The principal had sent a proposal stating the need to open a coed college and a girls college at the headquarters. Which was not approved by the government. Whereas there is a dire need of a Government Coed College and a Government Girls College in the headquarters. The reason for this is that year after year the number of students is increasing in Government Autonomous PG College and Rajmata Scindia Girls College located in the headquarters. In the year 2020-21, nine and a half thousand students were studying in Girls College and 9 thousand students in PG College. In the session 2021-22, the number of students has reached about 11 thousand. The great thing is that every year there is a lot of pressure for admission in both these colleges. Even the honoraries come to the principals for the admission of their candidates. At the same time, student organizations also put pressure on the colleges by demonstrating for the admission of all the students every year. Despite the lack of resources, the college gives admission to the students every year by increasing the seats by 30 to 40 percent. If the approval of the government college is not given by the government at the headquarters soon, then the situation will remain the same in the coming times as well.

The department sweeps away, this time it has crossed the limit
Every year at the time of admission, the Higher Education Department issues a letter to the colleges, in which resource wise seat increase is given. By issuing letters to the college principals, the department gets away with it, but the government colleges face the problem. This time the department did everything. In the CLC phase, without seeking permission from the colleges, the seats in undergraduate and postgraduate in government colleges were increased by 25 percent. Subject experts related to higher education say that many subjects in postgraduate are of practical. Despite all this, the department increased it by 25 percent.

Guidelines will be broken
As per UGC guidelines, there should be one section for 80 students in colleges. At the same time, according to NAAC, there should be one teacher guide for every 20 students. At present one professor in PG College and Girls College has the responsibility of 300 students. In such a situation, like every year, this time too the guidelines will be flouted in these colleges. Experts say that civil society is not active in Chhindwara. If the academic audit is done then the college will not live up to the rules.

They say..
It is true that there is no resource according to the number of students. Despite this, arrangements will be made. The department had asked for a proposal. I had sent a proposal to open two colleges in the headquarters.
Dr. Amitabh Pandey, Principal, PG College

Even after 25% seat increase in CLC phase, application was written to the department for more seat increase, which has been approved. This year about 11 thousand girl students will be studying in the college. Arrangements will be made for everyone’s study.
Dr. Kamna Verma, Principal, Girls College
